The Studio and the City: Group Exhibition

12 September - 17 October 2026 Onehunga
Overview

For more than a century, New York has been a city of artists' studios. From converted warehouses and industrial lofts to purpose-built workspaces and private retreats, the studio has served as both a site of production and a stage for artistic identity. It is where artists test ideas, develop visual languages and negotiate their relationship with the city around them.

This exhibition brings together works by artists whose practices have been shaped by New York's creative landscape across generations. Accompanied by photographs of the artists in their studios, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the environments where these works were conceived, revealing the intimate connection between artist, workspace and artwork.
