Liliane Tomasko

Liliane Tomasko is a Swiss artist known for her atmospheric, gestural paintings exploring sleep, dreams and the unconscious. Her practice developed from close-up photographs of domestic spaces and everyday materials, particularly unmade beds, rumpled sheets and clothing, which she gradually transformed into increasingly abstract compositions. Through sweeping lines, layered colour, shadow and light, Tomasko creates works that hover between the recognisable and the dreamlike, evoking the emotional and psychological traces embedded in our surroundings.

Tomasko studied at Chelsea College of Art & Design and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. She has exhibited extensively internationally, with solo exhibitions at institutions including the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center in New York, Kunstmuseum Magdeburg, IVAM in Valencia and the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris. Her work is held in collections including the Albertina Museum, Kunstmuseum Bern, Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen and the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin.
