Foreshore Defender is the appropriation of Pākehā (settler) weaponry and military status symbols, translated into an icon of Māori resistance to settler migration and to the inevitability of land loss. Concerned with legislation created to deny Māori of our right to claim the foreshore and seabed, this work represents the sprit of the Pacific "flying bat" or a state-of-the-art stealth bomber to save what little land remains.
