Works by Yuki Kihara are presented in a group exhibition Not A Solitary Feeling, at the Adam Art Gallery Te Pātaka Toi in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, curated by Susan Ballard and Sophie Thorn.
The exhibition draws attention to perceived boundaries between human and more-than-human, planet and atmosphere. These works may prompt us to think about things which are amorphous and immediate—wind, weather, water, and the air in-between.
On view are works from Kihara’s Tala o le tau: Stories from the Weather (2025-26) series and a new site-specific installation Winds of Change (2026), which features over 60 ili pandanus fans suspended from the gallery ceiling, mimicking the movement of the cyclonic winds. The ili were supplied by the Sāmoa Victims Support Group (Shelter for Women & Children) from Upolu Island, Sāmoa.
The exhibition runs from 4 July – 11 October 2026.
