Grace Wright shares behind the scenes look at her Paris studio

Gallery artist Grace Wright has spent the last few months in Paris and shared these snippets of Parisian life with us.

"I have been captivated by the energy and elegance in Paris. The beauty is in the detail, and the detail is abundant: The sinuous art nouveau lines in the city’s architecture, hints of gold, summer light through the trees, or turning a street corner and chancing upon a cathedral. The Olympics have added an incredible energy to the city, too. I was lucky to experience athletics and artistic swimming, and celebrate the opening and closing ceremonies at NZ House.

Fortunately, I happened upon a studio early and have enjoyed the rituals of daily life in the city and experimenting in the studio. Each morning I love walking by the Seine, or past the statue at République (which I find inspiring. Initially that puzzled me until a friend pointed out that the statue is of a strong woman). On the way home I visit my local boulangerie for a croissant and baguette before taking the metro to the studio. The early evenings are spent visiting galleries, wandering the Marais or people watching with a glass of wine. Being in the capital of fashion offers endless inspiration! Paris is a supportive city to artists. It’s a privilege to be here and to let these experiences into the studio."
