New Flagship Premises | Gow Langsford Onehunga

Set to be New Zealand’s largest private contemporary art space, Gow Langsford’s new flagship premises in Onehunga includes gallery spaces, private viewing rooms, artist studios and a specialist art library. The building, originally commissioned by cosmetics mogul and arts patron Helena Rubinstein, will now become home to the most exciting modern and contemporary art in Aotearoa.
 
Join us for the public opening day from 12-4pm to celebrate our inaugural exhibition This Must Be The Place. It brings together the work of a diverse range of artists who respond to themes of place, belonging, and cultural legacy, and includes work by artists represented by Gow Langsford – Laurence Aberhart, Shane Cotton, Brett Graham, Chris Heaphy, Hugo Koha Lindsay, Reuben Paterson, and John Pule; invited practicing artists – Ayesha Green, Areez Katki, Raukura Turei,and Dame Robin White; and late artists of contextual significance – Paul Dibble, Sally Gabori, Colin McCahon, and Teuane Tibbo.
 

At 2pm The Tamaki Serenaders will perform historic pacific music in response to the works in the exhibition; followed by Polynesian performance group LEAO who will awhi the new space and gallery. RSVP to the opening day on our Facebook page here.

 

Please note the artists studios are not publicly accessible and more information, and details on how to apply for a residency will be released when they launch in May.

 
Regular opening hours are Thursday and Fridays, 10am – 5pm and Saturdays 10am -4pm or by appointment.
