Each year, Gow Langsford lends its support to a worthy cause through an art auction. Raising funds to assist a charity that we believe in is an important way for us to give back to the community, and we can think of no better way than by selling stunning works of art.
This year, we are thrilled to support the Spirit of Adventure Trust, which is celebrating its 50-year anniversary. Over the years, the trust has transformed the lives of over 82,000 young people. Its youth development voyages on the Spirit of New Zealand and its predecessor Spirit of Adventure are the stuff of legends, providing opportunities for growth and learning to young New Zealanders.
To support the trust, we will be teaming up with auctioneer Ben Plumbly of Art+Object to sell work generously donated by six highly talented artists. Gow Langsford’s Dick Frizzell, Max Gimblett, Chris Heaphy, John Pule, and John Walsh have all contributed works to this cause, as has Ebonie Fifita at the invitation of Dame Robin White. These artists have created unique artworks on original sail cloth from the Spirit of New Zealand. The works will be auctioned at a private event, with all funds going to fund the vital work of the Trust.
The auction will take place at the Fisher Homestead, at a private event with patrons who have contributed to the charity. However, absentee bids can be made by those unable to attend on the night. This is an excellent opportunity to get hold of a fantastic artwork by one of these acclaimed artists and support a valuable community cause at the same time. If you are interested in any of the available lots, pre-auction bids will be accepted up until 3pm on Monday 6th November. Contact us to register your bids or for further information.
