The Sixties: High Tide and Green Grass: Frank Habicht

30 May - 27 June 2007 Auckland City
Overview

To coincide with the Auckland Festival of Photography 2007 held from 1- 24 June, Gow Langsford Gallery displayed a selection of photographs from German photographer Frank Habicht. Now a resident in New Zealand, Habicht travelled extensively over the years working between London, Paris and Berlin. He has worked as a stills photographer for various film directors/producers including Roman Polanski, Jules Dassin and Bryan Forbes.

Over the years Habicht photographed countless renowned figures of the day – pop idols, film stars, fashion designers, producers, directors and top models including Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, actor/director duo Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, actors Vanessa Redgrave, Marty Feldman and Christopher Lee, director Roman Polanski and photographer Lord Lichfield. Aptly named after a ‘60’s Rolling Stones album, this exhibition showcases a selection of these images all of which capture the uninhibited spirit of the times in Europe during the 1960’s.
