Dear Stranger: Graham Fletcher
Past exhibition
Overview
Dear Stranger sets the scene for strange encounters. Recalling first contact experiences between Western and non-Western peoples, thesenew works further examine aspects of the highly complex and dynamic relationships that develop when histories, cultures and identities collide and intermingle. From within these borderline environments, masks, totems, Van Gogh flowers and Tulip chairs are many such items carefully arranged to achieve maximum effect within vibrant colourful settings. Here, the intention is to solicit multiple intertextual readings by creating New Worlds built up from the cultural fragments of the Old.
