Last month we hosted the official launch of the Colin McCahon Legacy Project’s new fundraising initiative Clouds 3. The project aims to raise essential funds to create and maintain a comprehensive digital archive of McCahon’s extensive body of over 1,800 works.
The limited edition screenprint is a reproduction of the 1975 painting of the same title and was chosen by McCahon’s grandson Finn as the image for this fundraiser. Of his choice he notes, “The Muriwai paintings are not just to be looked at, they are to be thought about. So, I chose this image to engage people. I love the directness of the application of paint, the spatters, the swirling hand of the artist, which still feels contemporary. This period of painting is usually admired by people who understand McCahon’s work – so I chose it for the supporters.”
We are pleased to be partnering with the Colin McCahon Trust who have initiated the project and are selling a limited number of editions for $15,000 framed or $13,800 unframed. To enquire about purchasing a print, see here.
